The 2020 Audi SQ5 TDI is renewed and embeds a “mild hybrid” system and an electric compressor to lend a hand to his V6 turbodiesel while reducing its CO2 emissions.
The Audi SQ5 is a sports SUV on the whole rather discreet. It is best known for its many “S” badges, which adorn the spicy versions of the Ingolstadt firm. Its specific rims have a diameter of 20 inches. Its oversized exhaust outlets seem fake. However, they can quickly identify the SQ5 as a model apart in the range. The interior is also discreet, and subtly adopts some “S” logos, a stitched leather steering wheel and sports seats mixing leather and suede. Technology enthusiasts will be able to count on a state-of-the-art infotainment system and driving aids.
As standard, the SQ5 adopts an adaptive suspension and braking device with six-piston calipers that pinch 376 mm diameter discs at the front. The “dynamic steering” and “adaptive air suspension” specific to sports models, however, appear on the list of options. As on all vehicles sporting the “S”, all-wheel drive is imposed. A sport differential, which allows a more typed driving behavior in dynamic driving, is available as an option.
The SQ5 seeks to contain its CO2 emissions: its turbo V6 runs on diesel, and it is associated with a light hybridization system to reduce its emissions. The search for fuel economy has become ruthless stalking: if the driver releases the accelerator between 55 and 160 km / h, depending on the driving mode engaged, the car can recover energy for the hybrid system, coasting or shutting down the engine for a maximum of 40 seconds.
2020 Audi SQ5 TDI Performance
Performance has not gone down the road. The V6 develops 347 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. It is associated with a Tiptronic 8-speed automatic transmission. The response time of the turbo is reduced thanks to the adoption of an electric compressor. The 0 to 100 km / h is thus shot in 5.1 seconds and the top speed is limited to 250 km / h. However, it is possible that the sound emitted by the diesel block is not to everyone’s taste. If the artificial tone discourages you, we advise you to opt for the excellent system Bang & Olufsen with “3D sound” to rediscover your favorite titles.
